Todays guest is the kind of person that I haven’t had on the show since way back on episode 18, a teacher.
And not an entrepreneurial ex-teacher, but one that is still on a daily basis going to school and teaching his pupils history.
Seems like a normal teacher?
Well consider how many teachers you have had in your life that also focused on happiness?
Yeah, I can’t think of more than….well none to be honest.
He believes that discussing happiness with sixth graders will help them understand the path to well-being and how to create habits that nurture it.
They will be laying a foundation for lifelong resilience, contentment and, ultimately, success in whatever endeavours they pursue.
So with that in mind, he takes a few minutes each morning to ask his students to consider something they’re grateful for, happy about or that makes them feel good.
And now with his new book “Teaching Happiness and Innovation” he goes even deeper into the world happiness, with practical exercises that we can all do to increase our well being and….well be happy.
So was this a focus that he has always had in his life, or did he suddenly realise one day that there was a different way of teaching?
And what has he found to be the biggest obstacle with kids to achieving this state of mind?
Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Mike Ferry
During the episode we discussed such weighty topics such as:
How teachers in the seventies were like lunatics and would think nothing off throwing blackboard rubbers at children across the room.
How he came to the realisation that happiness is the starting point to gaining success in your life, and not the other way.
How he tries his best to stop negative stories from the world entering in his house, by censoring the news from his family, allowing positivity to flourish.
Why he knows that his own personal efforts will only make a tiny ripple in the education pool, but has a total belief that his techniques are what the world is waiting for.
We get the full scoop on how many valentines cards he got from the ladies in his neighbourhood!
