Introducing Amanda Goldman-Petri
Amanda Goldman-Petri is my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview.
She is a young lady, that has endured more than most people will do in their whole life.
Growing up very poor with a father who was a drug addict and an abusive stepfather her mother was too scared to leave.
You can imagine her life was full of dreams of something better.
You would think her life would have turned around when she graduated, and was accepted to one of the top universities in the world, Johns Hopkins, but just before she began her freshman year she was hit by a car and had to learn to walk again, and then was raped during her recovery period.
How The Dots Joined Up For Amanda Goldman-Petri
Still struggling with the aftermath of the accident during her freshman year.
She then found out some of the symptoms she was experiencing were actually signs that she was 4.5 months pregnant.
Not to be deterred, she was induced on a Saturday in April and returned to school on Monday to take a final exam.
With support from her mother and now-husband, she was able to graduate in four years with three majors.
But it wasn’t until she worked as a social media marketing intern that she found her calling, quit graduate school and started her first business at 21.
Now this is of course all very inspiring stuff, depressing in many ways, but also inspiring to see someone overcome so many obstacles in their lives, and fight their way back.
But what is most inspiring is the manner that she has created her own business personality, which is full of lightness, fun, and almost cartoon like quality which is really unique.
This is someone in control of how she wants to present herself to the world, and she is not willing to follow the route that everyone else takes.
The Skill Of Marketing Like A Nerd
She had her first $10k month at 22, made $150k in four months at 23, and now at 25 has completed a six-figure launch in 90 days while expanding her business to 19 countries.
She has mastered the art of working smarter not harder, paring down her work to part-time while taking at least 10 vacations a year.
So how did she manage to fight off the victim mentality and come back in such a spectacular manner?
And is this something that everyone can do, or do you need three majors, a business degree, and an ever expanding email list?
Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Amanda Goldman-Petri
During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Amanda Goldman-Petri such as:
How she has reached a point in her life when she has achieved the fairy tale ending.
Now realising that it was just the fairy tale that she thought was possible at the beginning.
How she can remember hitting the burnout point in her life when creating her third business.
Now she makes the decision everyday to ensure that will never happen again.
Why she loves marketing more than anything else, and geeks out on it.
Focusing so much of her energy on providing content to the business world.
How she took countless small steps to overcome the debilitating fear, that took control of her after her car accident.
Why she now realises that she is a lot better to be a Solopreneur building her own business, than working with someone else.
