Happy Birthday Join Up Dots
In todays episode of Join Up Dots we reflect back on the last seven years of struggle, success and achievement.
The reason for this reflection is quite simply 30th April 2021 is the seventh birthday of the launch of Join Up Dots.
Throughout those years many things have occurred, some amazing, some terrible and some truly terrible.
But did we learn anything from this period of online meandering?
Did we discover anything that we can bring onto the show to help others in their own journeys?
Well of course we did as that is what we are all about on Join Up Dots.
So lets start with a quick summary and then we can start breaking it down.
What Have We Learnt In Seven Years?
1. Don’t build something on passion build something on money and then develop the passion.
2. Start to really prune the people you are surrounded by.
3. Have more confidence in yourself.
4: Pay for support and help (the most that you can afford)
5: Take more rests than business building days.
6. Work on the fuel you take into your body first and foremost.
7: Say NO to everything you can. You wont miss out on anything but you will gain massive clarity.
Lets Go Into Depth
1. Don’t build something on passion build something on money and then develop the passion.
When you start to try to build something based on passion, more often than not we dont spend enough time looking at the money angle.
We know that we are going to love the business we are building, as its a combo of hobby and business.
But the trouble is we focus more on the passion and have no idea how we can make a living from it.
How can we charge for something that we love doing?
Who will pay us for something that we do really easily?
The answer to that is ignore the passion right at the beginning and think “Can i make a living on this ?” and then start to think about whether you will love it or not.
2. Start to really prune the people you are surrounded by.
It’s quite easy to remain surrounded by your past life when you are trying to build something new and that’s a big mistake.
You are quite easily pulled back into the old days, by comments and lack of support.
We drop back into the comfort areas of life, where we feel a part of things, but this is wrong.
Make sure that you look at everyone, and if they are not part of your journey and never will be then drop them and find others.
The best thing to all this pruning is the good folk that you do need, will then come into your life to take their places.
This is what the success vacuum is all about and why you need to prune, prune, prune.
3. Have more confidence in yourself.
Now this is a hard one for sure, as you cant get the confidence unless you really make a go at growing.
Confidence only comes through trying to become something different and smashing your comfort zone to many pieces.
So you do have naturally get confidence by doing?
No, of course they dont, but you certainly grow quicker than you can possibly expect to do by moving forward and not resisting the pull.
So be bold, make mistakes and then go to where your confidence is waiting for you.
4: Pay for support and help (the most that you can afford)
Why wouldn’t you pay someone else to do the things that you cant do, or shouldn’t do?
Well that’s anyone’s guess, but for sure we all do that.
Right at the very beginning of creating online success we are all bootstrapping and trying our best to squeeze money out of a dried sponge.
So we spend hours and hours trying to do everything ourselves and that is wrong.
What we should do is find the money, even if its taking out a loan or borrowing money as you will pay it back so much quicker,
Now we dont want you simply reading this podcast and episode and not actually listening to the show directly.
So we thought we would leave the summary for the last free on their own.
To be replaced by a deep dive of audio content, that will forever change your life
So if you are ready to find the answers to the last three questions we have posed then they are waiting for you.
