The importance of time management is something that really isn’t that important.
The reason for this is quite simply, when it comes to time you can’t manage it.
You can’t get more than you are ever going to get in your life. so you better make the most of it instead of trying to manage it.
Read that last line before as the key is there already.
Making the most of the time that you have available each day is the key to flourishing and appearing stress-free.
Not like so many “Time Experts” want you to think.
Steven Griffith is an expert at what he calls Time Cleanse as you will hear on the show at the bottom of the page, and in his book The Time Cleanse: A Proven System to Eliminate Wasted Time, Realize Your Full Potential, and Reinvest in What Matters Most
As you will hear through the podcast episode, not once does he talk about managing time and the importance of time management.
He talked about knowing what to do with the time in your life when you have it.
He certainly talked about resting and recharging your energies with that time your given back.
But hey, management of time not at all.
So let’s start with the benefits you will get if you simply do less each day and decide what is most important to you instead.
The Importance Of Time Management (By Forgetting The Management Bit)
1: Reducing Stress In Your Life
If you think of anyone in life who looks young, youthful and stress-free then there is no doubt that they have cracked their time issues.
They have worked out what they have to do to create huge success and financial rewards by just doing those things.
I have interviewed thousands of people now from all walks of life, and most claim to do hardly anything each day.
What they actually mean is they do the 5% of things that they can do like a genius, and leave all the hard stuff to employees.
Imagine that, you get up out of bed and have a day of doing nothing but the stuff you love, whilst the world pays you big-time for doing it.
2: The Quality Of Your Work Will Increase Exponentially
You ask anyone how their day is nowadays and they will say “Busy”
We now use this as a badge of honor, as if the world will say “Good on you, busy is the way to go buddy.”
However this is wrong, and by choosing perhaps two pieces of work per day to complete, you will discover that the work you do becomes your best work ever.
You will be breezing through more work than you ever thought possible, as you get it right the first time every-time.
No rewrites and revisions for you which means….yep you will be getting more time back in your life.
Still think that the importance of time management is what you are looking for?
3: Improve The Quality Of Your Focus
Tying into the importance of time management mentioned above, one thing we all struggle with nowadays is focus.
We have too many distractions, notifications, bleeps and alarms to stop us doing anything worthwhile.
That is what life is like, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
By choosing just one piece of work that you want to complete instead of a huge pile it is so much easier to set your stall out.
You can say to people “leave me alone for an hour please.”
You can turn off the addictions that we feel are so important as hey, it’s only an hour and everybody can wait an hour for a response after all.
Focus will be your new super power in life.
4: Recharging Your Batteries
With this desire to fit something into every-second of our day being an epidemic of global proportions it’s no wonder we are exhausted.
Every-time our mobile phones are getting ready to die, we jump towards the nearest plug socket and wrestle someone else to the ground.
It’s the most important thing in our lives to get that recharge.
However, in our own lives we ignore this rule pretty much everyday of the week.
Don’t ever think of sitting in the garden as wasting time, if it means that you can rock it big-time when you start working again.
This isn’t the importance of time management once again, this is just being bloody sensible.
Who do you think you are Superman?
5: Developing Better Relationships
Look i’m not an expert on this rule by any stretch of the imagination.
I can reluctantly share a listening ear to my child’s problems as good as the next man in line.
More often than not purely down to the reason that I have things on my plate more important than their concerns.
However, when I have nothing to do then I am the most eager to please parent or husband you can find.
I will wax lyrical about how family and relationships are the most important thing in my life.
So how-about cutting in half your to do list to make your family your number one to do thing everyday?
It’s ok, you can thank me later.
