Why am i such a failure? is the big question to today’s guest joining us on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots podcast.
He is Miha Matlievski, an entrepreneur who has had their fair share of knocks and set backs.
In 2009, Miha had four companies go bankrupt overnight: landing him $5 million in debt.
Contemplating suicide to escape the pain as he looked over the balcony, he had a life-saving AH-HA moment.
He realized that failure was a normal part of life: admitting to himself that he failed and to recognize he needed to stop blaming others and circumstances.
It wasn’t just thinking “Why am i such a failure ?” it was one of his big dots
This was the turning point when he made a choice to learn from his failures so he could do things differently in the future and to help others.
Since then, he has climbed back to create a business and scaling it to 8 figures in less than a year.
His life mission is to help people develop a healthy relationship with failure. Especially entrepreneurs.

Yes, I love it. Good morning. Well, good morning and welcome to Join Up Dots. It’s an absolute delight to be behind the microphone bringing Another guest to you. And when I asked today’s guest, are you in Trump land because I kind of assume that’s what’s going to be the case. I was told no, he’s actually in Europe and he’s got fascinating hobby, I suppose. But he spends his time doing which we’re going to talk about on the show. But he’s joining us on the podcast as he’s an entrepreneur who’s had their fair share of knocks and setbacks in 2009. He had four companies go bankrupt overnight, landing him $5 million in debt, now contemplating suicide to escape the pain as he looked over the balcony. He had a life saving aha moment. He realised that he shouldnt be asking “Why am i such a failure?” as this was a normal part of life admitting to himself that he failed and to recognise he needed to stop blaming others and circumstances. Now this was the turning point when he made a choice to learn from these failures, so he could do things differently in the future and to help others. Now since then, he’s climbed back to create a business and scaled it to eight figures in less than a year. He’s like mission is to help people develop a healthy relationship with failure, especially entrepreneurs. But to really get a flavour of the man you’ve got to go back to when he was just 18 years old now at just 18. He was a Slovenian high school dropout dreaming of becoming a successful entrepreneur. And from that point, he puts up with a passion putting in 12 years of hard work for the result, those four successful businesses and a personal network of $15 million now the question is are you willing to put in the hard work to make things happen for you in the same way and are you willing to persevere when things don’t go the way you want them to go? Let’s start Join Up Dots with the one and only Miha Matlievski. Now Was that good? Was that good?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [2:48]
Was Yes, absolutely. That was That was perfect.
David Ralph [2:52]
There you go. You see I am half Serbian, the Slovenian It doesn’t matter. I’m so you know at the moment, because as I You’ve got an interesting hobby. So let’s start with this because this is something that I haven’t had a guest say to me at all. Tell the listeners what you do with your spare time.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [3:10]
Well, I mean, you know, entrepreneurs, we’re all about freedom. And if you ask me, the easiest freedom is the freedom of money. I mean, when you don’t have it, it might seem like the hardest one, but talk to any seven eight plus figure entrepreneur and they will tell you that earning money is is the easiest, much harder is the freedom of time. But when you have both you have the freedom of choice. And I know that most enterpreneurs have very much different visions what to do with their freedom of choice, but mine is a rescuing dogs here in the Balkan region in Eastern Europe, because it’s a huge problem. And then, you know, I adopted for myself, but yeah, for the rest. I’m just trying to find them good homes and forever homes.
David Ralph [4:01]
So So what do you do you just walk along the street and then grab hold of a dog that hasn’t got a collar on da.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [4:08]
I’m almost literally like that. So there’s quite a lot of Facebook groups here locally where you know, people post pictures. Oh, here’s a stray dog. Here’s a stray dog and I mean, I come chase all of them. So when I see that somebody, some dog might be, you know, ill or a wounded or something like that. Because it’s impossible to save them all. So I tried to find those and then yeah, yeah, literally, I go to the store, I buy some sausage or something and then I try to learn them, put a leash on them, take them to the vet check if they are chipped if if somebody is looking for them. And if not, then usually you know, we have to do all the tests. We have to do all the paperwork. So usually they stay for quite a few months. Here, because you know, they have different diseases and so on. So I take care of all of that. And then once they’re ready to be adopted, we find them a new home.
David Ralph [5:11]
So just before we leave this subject behind is something that the listeners can help out with contribute. Do you have a charity that helps?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [5:20]
No, no, I don’t, but if they want, they can get in touch with me, because I’m not doing this myself. I’m co working with a few different organisations, and I will be more than happy to point them out to any of those. They all I think accept PayPal payments, quite a few dogs go to Canada, US, UK, Holland, Italy, and so on. So yeah, I mean, if that’s something they want to support, I will be more than happy to point them in the right direction. What I’m doing is I’m doing this for myself. Self by myself, and you know, quite a lot of my, sorry, monthly profits go towards this cause, because I just don’t want to be dependent on you know, somebody, somebody and, you know, trying to find charity and so on. So I just do that on my own.
David Ralph [6:21]
Well, a round of applause for you, sir. Good job well done. Now, let’s get into your story, right? I’m not as interested in the going bankrupt overnight and landing into 5 million in debt. But I am interested, a couple of days after your life saving aha moments. So it’s all right to go, look, I need to do things differently. I need to change direction I need to learn from my failures. It’s quite hard to get something going. So for the people out there that are doing the same kind of thing and they’ve had businesses that have failed. It’s Just to sort of regroup and get your mindset, right, or is it to build a business plan? What were your steps after that?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [7:08]
Well, this wasn’t a few days later, this was quite a few months later, I went through a whole lot of depression, anxiety, stress, you know, that darkness starts to build up in you. And I was all like, before that happened to me, I was always the positive, the cheerful, you know, with dreams and goals, and you know, like the true enterpreneur. And all of that died in me in that process. And at what point at one point I wasn’t able to see any light on the other side of the tunnel. I remember, I felt like okay, so I used up the good portion of the life and from now on, this is it and you know, when you come to that point, you start asking yourself, you know, like, what’s the meaning of you know, Moving forward going forward, when you don’t see any light. I mean, I was always a fighter so I can I, for me, it’s enough to see a little light it doesn’t have to be in a bright shining light on the the the end of the two metre tunnel. It can be a long tunnel, a small light and I’ll fight for it. But at one point I stopped seeing any light and the thing was my childhood was pretty perfect, very perfect. And I was always told how amazing I am how great I am, you know, by my parents and grandparents and so on. And I really believe that so whenever in life, something good happened to me. It was only natural to me that that’s my fault. Yeah. But then when those bad things happened to me, I found every possible way to find an excuse you know, it’s it’s the economy. It’s the financial crisis. It’s the government, my past employees my past business. This part there’s, and so on and so on. Because it was unimaginable for me that I can be the cause of something not good happening. If I’m that, you know, next Jesus that my mom told me I was. And so the aha moment, many months after the failure was when I was really literally like 10 seconds away from committing suicide. And I yelled, like, really out loud, like, you really messed it up, you failed. You, you you, you made so many mistakes, you know, and at that point, hearing myself the word you it was the moment when I took ownership of all the bad things as well. And the moment I did that, I had this thought, if Wow, but if I made so much money and came to so much network with all the mistakes. If I now learn and do things differently and make better choices and all of that, I can do even better. And that’s when I saw a little light on the other side of a huge tunnel. But it was enough for me to keep fighting.
David Ralph [10:19]
Now in a story like that, Mia, it’s very black and white. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, you’re in the darkness, and you only have to walk towards it. Now I know. So many people, I think they’re surrounded by light. They’ve got nothing to follow. They haven’t got that fixed path. I’ve only got to go towards the light and get out. And so they’re going to work. They’re earning money, they’re coming home and all the time they’re saying I want more I want something different, but they can’t see that dark to light journey. Do you see that in your own life as well with the people that you you deal with and you talk to every day but there’s kind of too many options for Women sometimes it’s better to just have that black and white path.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [11:04]
Yeah, but the thing is, either they’re, in my opinion, they’re two things. One is either you reach a point of pain that is so unbearable that will make you change things. So either you he’s dead low point. And you because you know it’s it’s universally known that that pain is the best motivator for change for innovation. So either you hit that point, which can be pretty low for a lot of people. We we can do we can create pretty small comfort zones and endure a lot of pain before we hit that point. So that’s one way or the other one is to have an amazingly strong, why and being hungry
Unknown Speaker [11:56]
and a def time
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [11:59]
my So I first hit the point of pain where I finally realised that I some things need to change but that what then what was pushing me forward was that I was super hungry and I had a huge why and my why was my family and that was what was pushing me and and going forward because I wasn’t able to, to live in my own skin, knowing that my mom could be on the receiving end to have to pay for my mistakes. And that that was so strong that I just kept going kept going. That’s why often I get asked, you know, like, Mika, do you have any particular clients that you enjoy working with the most and I always say one thing, mom printers, they have the most amazing, the strongest Why? Because they’re fighting for the family for their children.
David Ralph [13:02]
It’s interesting to me and I’m sure it’s been mentioned to you many times before, but for somebody wire to be so strongly linked to family, that you could be 10 seconds away from committing suicide, because ultimately your family would have had to deal with that. They would have had had the questions asked themselves constantly, did we do something wrong? Did we not support him? You know, why, why why is was it just a different person now to Ben, was it you know, an imbalance that you went through that you couldn’t rationally think straight?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [13:36]
You aren’t thinking about that, to be honest. I mean, my wish to commit suicide was very selfish. I wasn’t thinking about anybody. Looking back, you know, that was the wrong thing. But the deadtime you I mean, try to understand that my mind was like a nuclear reactor being created. to, you know, the next Chernobyl happening in my head every second of every hour of every day for a few months, because you wake up phone calls from people your money too. And those are not nice phone calls, they start with, oh, we are just checking God, you know, how’s the payment going, and then a few weeks later, we’re going to sue you. And then a few weeks later, you start listening to you know, personal threats, what they will do to you too, and so on. And, and, you know, for me, it was just this. I was hungry for some peace in my head. Because I wasn’t like when I was at home, which I was most of the time I was just at home curled up in that foetus, baby position, unable to move to do anything. And it was just so hard to be by yourself with all of that happening in your ahead. And on the rare occasions when I would go outside, I wasn’t present. I all that was just like chapter around me. And I was in my head. I was in my head 24 seven, when it was Friday afternoon, I wasn’t happy that it’s weekend and I won’t have any phone calls. I was dreading Monday morning. I was trying not to sleep. Because you know, when you go to sleep, Ben, eight hours are passed by that and you know, I was trying to stay awake for as long as I can to prolong the weekend.
David Ralph [15:40]
This here from Rocky
Rocky Balboa [15:41]
You, me or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward how much you can take a keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.
David Ralph [15:57]
Well obviously that’s from a movie but it’s a pretty powerful statement because I don’t think that I’ve met or spoken to one person through this podcast, who hasn’t had the biggest whack in the face that they could possibly get, and then look at it and think it wasn’t too bad. I can overcome, I can deal with it. Now for the people out there that were talking for the wannabe entrepreneurs, the people I interview because the people on the buses, the trains, listening to this journey, a lot of the time they live in a world of it’s potentially going to be bad, it’s potentially going to be difficult. I might as well stay in my comfort zone. But it’s not me or is it there’s there’s there’s nothing really that is that scary or that game changing or show stopping bad people can’t deal with.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [16:49]
I mean, honestly, in this day and age, it’s so much easier than it was, you know, when I went through all of that at that time. I don’t know if Facebook even existed, but I’m sure there were in Facebook groups, masterminds, you know, coaches, mentors, all of that. I mean, 10 years ago, yeah, this was 10 years ago, oh my god, like how quick time goes by. But 10 years ago, in Eastern Europe, maybe you had, you know, some consultants, but they were all high end consultants charging 10s, if not even hundreds of thousands per month to help huge corporations that were, you know, coaches and programmes and mentorships and, and all that what we have today. So I mean, in today’s world, it’s easier than it ever was, to do something to do it in a way that is almost completely risk free. I mean, you can start a business with nothing with just the phone that you already own with the computer that you already own and so on. So in We live in a very different time. So from somebody who was an enterpreneur, 10 and 20 years ago, I mean, now we live in a golden age of entrepreneurship. Does it
David Ralph [18:11]
make it harder me? Does it make it harder? Are there too many shiny objects? But wasn’t there when you first made your success?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [18:19]
What I mean, David, you know how it is. If we look at Tony Robbins, for example, when he started, there weren’t many coaches out there. But you know, he didn’t have the opportunity to do a course MVP style, which means just create an offer, you sign up a few people and only then you start creating it. Now he had to come up with a with an idea created all those DVDs, print them, invest in them. So you know, there’s, you can always find the reasons why not to do something. And you can always find reasons why you should do something. Of course, there Both in my opinion, there will never be a position where you only have pluses or you only have minuses. So yes, 20 years ago, you would probably be the only one. But you know, in today’s world, you have to compete with so many others. But the tools that are available to you and the opportunities that are available to you are much more abundant than there were 20 years ago. So you know, there’s pluses and minuses in everything.
David Ralph [19:28]
Let’s make it more difficult, doesn’t it mean that doesn’t make it more difficult when, you know, if you go back 100 years ago, you would have got off your backside you would have gone to a marketplace, you would have made personal connections. But nowadays people think that they’ve got to sit behind their computer clicking some things and and getting a sort of fake relationship built, but makes business so much harder. I always say to people, you’ve got to talk to people, you’ve got to actually have conversations with potential clients. You can’t really create It’s an ongoing business just by having things whizzing around the internet.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [20:04]
David, to be honest, I’m doing a lot of work with the new enterpreneurs. I just, that’s where my passion truly is. And most of the time, what I need to teach them is how to be just a human being in the online world. Yeah, the more you are human being, the more you do things, just the way you would do them in the real life, the better you will be.
David Ralph [20:32]
But that’s obvious, isn’t it? Man, don’t you think that’s really obvious that, you know, we talked to people, we had relationships, and now I spend so much time having zoom conversations with people and you know, I would say the majority of them don’t turn into clients, but I still make the time to build up a relationship. thank people for actually listening to the show. Find out about their lives. You know that that’s the bulk of my business. I do very little podcast. Compared to talking to people.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [21:02]
Yeah, so do I. And and that’s, that’s just I mean, most of the time, it’s just that inner fight where we are, especially if we are we are a little bit older. You know, we weren’t born with an iPad in our heads. Yeah. Hence, sometimes we see this. I mean, and I was the same when I joined the whole online business venture thing. I thought that the online world is completely different. But the more I was getting to know the online world, the more I saw that it’s literally the same as the offline world. And once you get to that point, it makes everything so much easier. But you know, most of the time Yeah, that’s that’s what I’m dealing with my clients is just to help them to break pause this internal barrier where they feel that they need to act and behave and do things differently in the online world. And the sooner we get to that point, the sooner they start getting traction and momentum, and things start happening for them.
David Ralph [22:16]
Now I’ve got a brick and mortar business myself, and I would never ever create another brick and mortar business, just the hassle with staff and rights and expenses. That is the difference with online world, isn’t it? But the actual monthly overhead to create a successful business is so low, it’s unbelievably low, my home business runs but less than probably $100 a month and so everything on top of that its profit.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [22:45]
Yeah, yeah, you can get you can get to much bigger profit in the online world. You can use a lot more different tools and automatisation and you’re very much more Free, how you can outsource things, and so on. So you have much greater abundance of opportunities at your disposal. Because, I mean, if you have a brick and mortar shop, I mean you have to employ somebody local, you can’t employ, you know, for example, you’re in the UK and the wages in the UK are much higher than wages here in Eastern Europe like here. A good paycheck is when people work for like three or $3 an hour, you know, can you imagine that? And you know, now imagine that you hire, you can hire your people for and they will be happy and they will make good money and they will be able to live and sustain and so on. On that on that paycheck. How much easier would that be for you, versus you with the brick and mortar, location having to hire somebody local, just That can be an opportunity by itself but I mean, plenty of others plenty more opportunities. You can use so much automatisation systems, software solutions and, and all of that that really impact your bottom line.
David Ralph [24:16]
We will be back with Miha after these words.

So Mia, you have branded yourself the file coach. Now is that something bad has brought lots of business because most people would think that as a negative, they would think I don’t want to have anything negative in my branding, because it will push people away. Have you found by a positive instead?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [26:38]
Um, I mean, in all honesty,
I didn’t like put a lot of effort into picking that it was really like me and a friend of mine. We were, you know, just having a few beers and I was like, Oh, I really love helping entrepreneurs and so on. After my exit from my last startup. I volunteered a lot Locals, incubators and accelerators and I really loved it. I enjoyed it. And he said, Well, why don’t you do this like full time? And I was like, Wow, you are right. And then you know, a couple of beers later, you know, like, who How do I name my company? How do I brand myself? And then my friend said, Well, you know what, you always say how important it is to have a good relationship with failure, how important it is to fail fast, how you will fail so many times before you will reach success, every story that you share or every time when you help us. It’s, you know, something that you failed at in the past, and then you tell the whole story, how, you know, you overcame that and what was the result? And it was actually him. He said, Well, you’re the failed coach, and I don’t know whether it was the beer or something, but I just loved it then. I on the spot, I registered the domain. And to be honest, the more I’m talking about it, the more I’m falling in love with it. But in the beginning, I wasn’t sure whether I chose the right thing or not. But I’ve learned that two things that once people hear what my what I do is all about, they understand the point of being the fail coach. That’s one thing. And the other one is that my potential or ideal clients aren’t people who never went through any failures, you know, whose life was just a steady line. I have a very hard time working with those people. So and people who did experience failure, appreciate what I bring to the table and how I bring it to the table and they understand it from from from the first second. So, no, it’s been a fun ride. It’s often also a good conversation starter as well. So I’m truly enjoying The name that I don’t know probably chose me. I didn’t choose the name.
David Ralph [29:05]
Now when people sit down with you and they start discussing failures on their common themes, is it bad? They haven’t planned it out enough or they haven’t defined what, you know, where do the failures come from? Oh, is that too vague a question?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [29:23]
No, it’s a very simple question. Failure is just something that we set a goal on or some or our expectation of something happening, didn’t happen. And if that happens, it’s never a single thing. It’s there’s always a process before so we take some steps before we reach that goal, or we finish that task. So all we have to do is for a focus on the process, and it’s a Either there’s there were bottlenecks in the process, or the steps were wrong. I mean, let me give you a very simple example. So let’s say I want to lose weight, I want to lose 20 pounds in a month. So if I go to McDonald’s every single day, then I’m doing the wrong steps and expecting that I reach the goal. Or maybe I am clean eating, but I’m just over eating, you know, I mean, you can you can overeat on healthy food as well. And I’m in taking more calories than I’m burning. And then of course, also i’m not going to reach the goal. So you always have a good relationship with failure is has a lot to do with emotional intelligence, and seeing failure for what it really is. And the worst reaction is an emotional reaction that the key is in taking emotions away, looking at the whole process through the eyes. The logic and you will find either bottlenecks or wrong steps. And when when I’m talking with the people who failed, we always reverse engineer the process to that point where they failed. Like, if I look back, you know why I failed so hard? Because none of my businesses had any solid foundation. I was just riding the wave of good economy. I see it now. I didn’t see that back then. Back then I thought, oh my god, like, I’m so frickin amazing. You know, like, I’m de enterpreneur. I’m the Steve Jobs of my company. I didn’t realise that the economy was so good. When I now look back at 2005 and six and seven and eight. I can’t remember a single company going bankrupt in Slovenia at that time. I really can’t. But you know, I didn’t saw that. And so I often use the in the studio We have three little pigs. My companies didn’t had any foundation processes, KPIs benchmarking brand story, you know, company culture, all of that. Yes, they all went to seven and eight figures in yearly revenue. But that was because of the economy. But then the moment that crisis came, the first wind that blew my whole thing was a domino effects, and everything failed. That’s why I lost all of that in one single day. 24 hours. And, and,
David Ralph [32:33]
and when did you realise that it was going, as we say, in the United Kingdom, pear shaped was it just, you know, instantly? Or did you see it and scramble around trying to stop things from going well,
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [32:45]
I mean, for me, that was super simple, because, you know, one of the one of my companies was in real estate, I was an investor in in a huge real estate project, and basically, all my assets. So my other companies, my personal assets, everything was co signing that agreement. And so just one morning, it was December 7 2009, Monday morning, I got a call from the bank. And you know, they said, Well, you know, with financial crisis, real estate prices dropped so significantly, that if you do finish this project, you will have to sell for less than you are building it for. And we don’t want to incur those minuses. It’s better for us to get out of this now. And I mean, you must be familiar, I’m guessing in I don’t know if the in the US they have the same financial instruments, but I’m sure in UK you have seen things as we do in Europe, where you kind of pre sign papers to the bank that if you don’t pay them, they can go to all your other bank accounts and make whatever is there. Yeah, so I had those things pre signed and they just told me like we we are getting Think our money back and they just started putting all those in next day, all my other companies were without any money and I was unable to pay paychecks, suppliers, taxes, nothing. And then because of that, I’m sure he knew Kate must be similar if you want to do personal bankruptcy, but if your companies went bankrupt and you didn’t pay paychecks in Texas, you can’t do personal bankruptcy.
David Ralph [34:29]
I don’t know. I don’t know. The you’re losing me on the technicalities of it, but I’m it sounds feasible probably.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [34:36]
Yeah. So, I mean, maybe they changed the laws in the 10 years, but at that time, it was like that. So I was unable to do personal bankruptcy. And so you know, all that depth stayed with me.
David Ralph [34:50]
Now, where did you then learn what because so many people struggle to get the first I don’t know, six figures. is a big difference between seven figures and eight figures? Is it just doing more of the right things and less of the wrong things?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [35:09]
Yes and No, I mean, once you go to seven, it’s not that hard to go to eight and then to nine, one of my companies, the recent startup went to multiple nine figures. So there is not, it’s basically just the numbers. But also, each significant step, whether that’s in revenue, or in the number of employees and so on, requires a little bit of different approach. So let me give you an example. So when you have like a six figure business, you might even not have any employees maybe just have a few vas or something helping you on the side. If you want to have a multi seven figure business, you will have to have a few people more or less on a paycheck and you need to manage them correctly, but One thing is, you know, managing five to 10 people, you know all about them, you can hang out after work, you know, you go for a beer, you know their spouses names and so on. And then you know, you go to eight figures and with eight figures come more employees more structure. And it’s a different way because you don’t even have time to talk with every single employee. So you need to have a very clear and good leadership structure beneath you, and they have to do good job within their departments. And so as you grow in the employees, it’s different way how you manage that how work is done. And you know, not one person is making a complex process but you try to try to break that down in, in simpler processes. That a what a person does, you need to have checks and balances in place. You need to be more strict on measuring things, KPIs, you need to have a very good and solid bi solution. That’s backing you up, because you can’t really manually check, I don’t know, 500 employees, so you need to have different things in place. But having a bi system in a six figure business would be a complete overkill. So you need to know what comes with each face. And so that you’re not doing putting in too big Foundation, or too little, you need to just balance it out. And you know, there’s plenty of books out there that can help you. There are coaches, there are mentors, programmes out there that can help you on that. Of course not not all of them are good. So you know, it’s up to you to to really make sure that you do the right due diligence along the way.
David Ralph [37:49]
And do you still enjoy it? You sound like you do enjoy it, but is it something that you know, has lost its shine, the more you’ve done it?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [37:58]
No, no, no. I mean, Actually, my fellow coaches often asked me like, What’s wrong with me? Because, you know, when I started this coaching, I was mostly, I was mostly hired by eight nine figure enterpreneurs. And you can imagine that, you know, you can, you can charge a pretty high fee, that is five, sometimes even six figure monthly fee for the work that you do with them. And it’s usually less work than when you’re when you’re working with new enterpreneurs. Because there’s a lot of the intrapreneurial stuff already solved. But when you’re working with new enterpreneurs, most of the time you’re dealing with the inner demons, the the psychology, I mean, often you’re more life coach than a business coach. Yeah, or sometimes even a therapist. And so it’s, it’s harder, but my thinking was, you know, whenever I worked with a 789 figure entrepreneur, when they called me it was because you know, something wasn’t going the right way. And they weren’t Growing or scaling, they plateaued or they were even declining in revenue. And that’s when they, you know, they call the failed coach. And every single time, we had to go back to basics, we have to go back to foundations. And so I never liked being an aspirin type of guy, you know, you come to me and say, Oh, I have a headache. Well here have an aspirin, I always try to figure out the root cause. And the root cause in all those enterpreneurs was that when they started, they, they were, you know, that creative type, the intrapreneur full of dreams and goals. And they never made sure to put any foundations down because that’s boring stuff. They were just out there and winging it. And you know, with the charisma and the inspiration and the emotions, they were able to just, you know, ride the waves and go to six, seven, sometimes even eight figure it’s completely possible before you hit a plateau. But we always have to go back to foundations and so one I said to myself, well, why don’t I just start helping new enterpreneurs? If I help them lay down all the firm foundation from the start, they won’t need me later on. And I’m Yeah, I love it. I love it. It’s it’s the hardest work if you ask me from a coach perspective, but I just absolutely love it.
David Ralph [40:21]
And where’s it going to take you? Are you going to be doing the same thing until you’re an old man? Or is this just a stepping stone?
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [40:29]
I don’t know. And I really don’t care. The way I mean, the way I look at things is I know really well, what my that my core values, my core beliefs. And so I are and as long as I live aligned with debt, and what I will be doing in five years, I don’t know, but I do know that I will be aligned with who I am. And that’s enough for me. Right now. I’m super enjoying this, but it’s also that I am down all the foundations for myself so that I can take myself out of the business at any time if I, but I, honestly, right now I just do the things that I love for all the rest. I have an amazing team. I have an amazing CEO, like she, she is she is the crown jewel of our company, and she takes care of everything for me. And basically, I just do what I love. And I right now I can’t imagine a single day without talking with enterpreneurs I mean, that would be a day wasted.
David Ralph [41:37]
You could chase around more dogs.
Why Am I Such A Failure With Miha Matlievski [41:40]
Well, I mean, I do a lot of that. Anyway, so you know, most of my clients come from US, Canada. And so you know, my work if we call it work starts in the afternoon. So yeah, doing that in the morning hours is enough. But why I’m building all of that This actually has a point and it’s I want to scale my coaching business to the point where I can finance myself creating a few more shelters, no kill shelter shelters, that will be focused on adoption. I want to employ a social media manager, a photographer, videographer, you know, poet writer for all those poems that that then make those dogs more adoptable and I want to buy a few full folk swag advanced, make them turn them into mobile veterinarian clinics, so that we start at the beginning with nurturing of stray dogs, and so on. So I have huge plans. And basically what I’m doing now is really not so much for me. I mean, I love how I can help others by doing what I do. And then all the profits really go to support Port this other costs now good
David Ralph [43:02]

Well, I’m not sure whether you will like my answer or not David But the thing is, I got asked this a lot like what would you advise your younger self? What would you say to yourself, and so on. And often, I do imagine myself going back and giving myself different advice is like, Don’t sign that contract or learn this or, you know, stay humble, don’t get overconfident, buy Apple shares, buy bitcoin when it comes out and so on. But then, every single time, I come to the same conclusion that if I could go back in time and have a coffee with myself, I would not give myself any advice at all. Because the reality is, I you know, we know about the butterfly effect where little things eventually lead to big changes. And I’m not sure if I would go back in time, give myself a huge advice or a good advice that would help me not to go through what I went through who I would be today. And I really, really love who I am today. And I’m grateful and thankful to all those hearts experiences. I appreciate them, because in the end, they made me who I am today.

So can you deal with failure? Can you Well, I tell you what you’ve got to I look at so many things that I’ve done in the past. And I think, well, it’s quite obvious why it failed. I couldn’t see at a time I put my heart and soul into it. A lot of times things are just not right at that time. You need to sort of allow it to grow, you need it to bed down and then you can go back. And if you’re doing stuff online, you will have you know a plethora of things half down and stopped, tidy up, get everything looking nice and neat. start earning money online. And when those things that you thought were going to be integral are there waiting for you and you can just go back can reach into it is it’s key to making a living online, do what you do best and make a difference to people’s lives. As I’ve been saying on the show, we are doing podcast calls we have throwing the kitchen sink at this, as we say, in the United Kingdom.
